They say that the hottest thing to ever come out of Cheraw, SC was jazz legend ‘Dizzy’ Gillespie. That was true … until last Saturday night … when the tag team of Amber O’Neal and Krissy Vaine made their return there as Team Blondage 2.0. The blonde bombshells made their return debut at NWA-MACW action in beautiful downtown Cheraw. A cynic might have expected MACW to put O’Neal and Vaine up against some second rate team, just to make sure the girls got a win on this historic occasion. But MACW was giving no ‘free passes’ to Team Blondage this time around. If they wanted to come back with a splash, they were going to have to earn it. Their opponents – The ‘Scream Queens’ Daffney and MsChif! MsChif, of course, being the current NWA Women’s Champion. Daffney, WCW legend and current SHIMMER and TNA star. And the two ravishing brunettes had no intention of letting Team Blondage walk away from the match with a win!
The standing room only crowd showed their preferences early on as they booed MsChif and Daffney as they entered the arena. But the Scream Queens paid little heed. They were there to do a job and just wanted to get down to business. In fact, they rudley interrupted Amber and Krissy’s entrance as they attacked them before the opening bell. But O’Neal and Vaine quickly turned the momentum around as they decked the screamers with a double clothesline. To the delight of the energetic crowd, the action quickly spilled out onto the arena floor, where Amber and Krissy seemed to be getting the better of their opponents. Once back in the ring, however, Daffney and MsChif tried to divide and conquer the battling blondes, isolating Amber in their corner and punishing her with chops, kicks, and even illegal [gasp!] chokes! After many times being pushed back into her corner by the ref, Krissy Vaine could stand no more. She rushed into the ring to rescue her partner. The battle got quite out of hand at this point, until eventually all four wrestlers were tied up with each other in mutual head locks! But in the end, Team Blondage was able to come through with their unique finisher, the Sparkling Diamond, Krissy executing the finishing kick that put Daffney away, with Amber getting the pin.
A truly ‘sparkling’ debut for the much-anticipated Team Blondage 2.0! The Scream Queens were none too happy with the outcome, but you can be sure this will not be the last time these teams lock horns. But to quote Amber O’Neal herself on the future of her revived tag team, “the best is yet to come!”
