A ‘Force’ to be Reckoned With

Don’t call her XTC! This former manager has definitively entered the ring for herself and wants to be known by her own name, Brittany Force! A name that suggests her game plan – to BE the dominant force in women’s wrestling today!
Ms. Force is already making good on that plan as she continues to dominate the western Pennsylvania wrestling scene, holding the DCW women’s title, and having a big recent win over Hailey Hatred at FNW. Just this past weekend, Ms. Force polished off ‘Malicious’ Morgan Rockafeller in KCW action. Brittany is truly proving herself to be … a force to be reckoned with!
Word on the street is that Brittany will be trying to extend her reach into eastern PA later this spring. Stay tuned here for more information.

Spotlight on … MARY KELLY!

Don’t let her sweet looks fool you. Tennessee grappler Mary Kelly knows how to handle herself in the ring against even the roughest of customers. And as fans of Memphis Ladies Wrestling discovered, she’s not afraid to mix it up in hardcore ring action either.
This native of Algood, TN has been wrestling since 2005, though she is only 22 years old. Mary has been making a name for herself at her home federation of Fusion Tradition Wrestling based in Sparta, TN, [even briefly holding the FTW heavyweight title!] and throughout the Volunteer State. Ms. Kelly has been wrestling mostly men, although she has been feuding recently with Crystal Fire.
Inspirations for Mary include ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and Dean Malenko. Her finisher is a straitjacket lungblower.
Ms. Kelly states that her goal in the business is, quite simply, “to wrestle to the best of my abilities.” So far, it seems, she has met her goal … and then some!
You can see Mary Kelly in action in my Image Gallery from the recent MLW show. And check in soon at mlwonline.com to see videos of her recent matches.

WSU Inducts First Hall of Fame Honorees

WSU marked its Second Anniversary by inducting three honorees into its newly created Hall of Fame. WSU honored three women who have made significant contributions to wrestling. Alere Little Feather presented the first award to her friend and mentor, Malia Hosaka, a twenty year veteran of the sport who continues to wow wrestling fans across the United States and abroad with her skill and beauty. In her acceptance, Ms. Hosaka said that she hoped she might be able to inspire other young women in wrestling to put their grappling skills and abilities first, concluding with a remark that has become something of a mantra with Malia, “If you’re all about ‘T and A,’ stay out of the ring!”
Second was a posthumous award to one of the true legends of the ring, man or woman, ‘Sensational’ Sherri Martel. Amy Lee gave a moving and tearful tribute to Ms. Martel as she gave the award to a dear friend of Sherri’s who will present it to her family.
Finally, WSU’s own Missy Hyatt was inducted by her namesake, Missy Sampson, who lauded her especially for taking on the ‘old boys’ network and not accepting second-class status in the wrestling business, thus opening doors to women ever since.
A first-class and moving event that will be long remembered.

Mercedes Martinez New WSU Champ!

In a match that is destined to go down in the annals of wrestling, Mercedes Martinez ended Angel Orsini’s reign as WSU champion in a brutal Hair vs Title Bullrope match at the historic Darress Theater in beautiful downtown Boonton, New Jersey. The ring was not nearly big enough to contain the battle these warriors were destined to have, as Orsini and Martinez took the fight to the stage and aisles of the venue. A great deal was at stake, but both women wanted a decisive outcome after a series of battles which ended either inconclusively or in contoversy. The lovely Alicia was the special guest referee, who promised to call it “right down the middle.” True to her word, the former WSU champion banned Angel’s frequent side-kick Rain from ringside, ensuring the match would be strictly mana a mana.
Congratulations are due to Mercedes Martinez for her historic win as well as to Angel Orsini, who was a true “fighting champ,” defending the title no less than 16 times in the roughly ten months she held the WSU gold.
This match alone will be worth the price of the DVD:

East Tennessee VS South Texas

East Tennessee and South Texas are two parts of the Fruited Plain where they say the people are made of tougher stuff than the rest of us. So sparks were bound to fly when Memphis Ladies Wrestling sanctioned a tag match pitting East Tennessee tusslers Crystal Fire and Kassie Rains against the South Texas senoritas Angelina [formerly the masked wrestler known as Pink] and mat veteran Simply Luscious. And a rough and tumble match it was. A match featuring treachery, blood, and even a psychotic nurse! MLW will have the match available for purchase soon. And I will be posting my own pictures from this match and many others at MLW’s recent event in beautiful downtown Tullahoma, Tennessee!

A ‘NEW’ Title for Roxie Cotton

New Elite Wrestling crowned its first ever women’s champ on February 22nd when Roxie Cotton defeated tag partner Annie Social. Before a capacity crowd in beautiful downtown West York, PA, the two sometime allies squared off against each other in search of title gold! The two gal grapplers held nothing back as the match see-sawed back and forth, the action getting so intense that at one point, it spilled out of the ring and into the aisles. Suddenly, however, a mutual clothesline sent both women to their backs, their arms draped across each other and the ref counted the pin … for BOTH! The NEW Commissioner, Judge Lawless, stepped out to inform the ref that, since this was for the new women’s title, there HAD to be a winner and that he should restart the match. The bell rang again and the two hammered away at each other. Annie got the best of the slug out and went for a flying split from the top rope. Roxie was able to slide out of the way at the last moment and Ms. Social landed hard on the canvas in a painful split that elicited an audible gasp from the entire crowd. Roxie took quick advantage, hitting the dazed Social with a moonsault from the ropes, then getting the old 1-2-3. A big win for Roxie against a very strong opponent. One wonders if this will affect their ability to work together as a tag team in future. Jealousy can be a terrible thing!

Also in attendance were Miss April and Monique Mercy, no doubt with their eyes on the NEW prize.
