One of the biggest snowstorms ever to hit the Atlantic coast may have played havoc with their roster, but it did not prevent NCW Femmes Fatales in their second show from delivering yet another outstanding night of wrestling.
The two opening contests featured four women all making their NCW Femmes Fatales debuts. In the first bought, Ontario standout Sabrina Kyle defeated the sinister Evilyn Fox. In the second premilinary fight of the night the diva-esque Eve got the 1-2-3 over masked newcomer Kira with a Boldo Bomb.
She Nay Nay, who distinguished herself in the first show by her dubious tactics, took on the vivacious Karen Brooks. The audience was stunned as She Nay Nay was accompanied to the ring by none other than 21st Century Fox. This caused all sorts of speculation. Had She Nay Nay found the manager to take her to the top of NCW Femmes Fatales? Was the Foxy One testing the waters for her own return to the squared circle? Only time will tell! But facing this formidable team, Ms. Brooks had little chance, and She Nay Nay picked up her first NCW Femmes Fatales victory.
Then another debut as P.J. Tyler joined forces with Mary Lee Rose to face the formidable tag team of the Russian bear, Anna Minoushka and the insane nurse, Anastasia Ivy. Ms. Tyler’s team did not in the end prevail, but she definitely showed herself to be a force to be reckoned with.
Fan favorite Cherry Bomb then locked up with the exotic Mistress Belmont. The Mistress showed that she knows how to use that whip she carries to the ring (and the refs will know better next time to keep their distance!), but it was not enough to keep the energetic Ms. Bomb from picking up a big win with the Cherry Popper.
Next, a big match with a very controversial ending, that would have major consequences later in the show. The feline femme fatale, Cat Power, opposed the darling of Montreal, LuFisto, with her ever present ‘manager,’ the diminutive Pegaboo. Ms. Power punished the Quebecoise grappler [who now lives in Montreal, Japan] with power moves and her all too cat-like razor sharp claws! But LuFisto matched Cat move for move. But, just when LuFisto began to take over the match, a slight miscalculation resulted in a KO’d ref. Taking advantage of the confusion in the ring, Ms. Power grabbed a chair … NOT to hit LuFisto with, but to GIVE her while Cat hit the mat. As the ref recovered all he saw was a downed Ms. Power and LuFisto looking guilty, holding a chair. He immediately called for the bell and awarded the match to Ms. Power on a disqualification. The crowd, who saw this whole seedy drama unfold before their eyes, expressed their disapproval quite vocally as Ms. Power made her exit looking like the proverbial ‘cat who swallowed the canary.’
After the intermission, things got underway when the unpredictable (and perhaps somewhat mentally unstable) Kacey Diamond entered the ring styling herself as the reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe, peroxide blonde hair and all! The debuting Medianne soon disabused Ms. Diamond of her Hollywood pretensions by knocking off her wig, but the combination of Kacey’s skills and Mlle. Rachelle’s well-timed interference in the end proved too much for a game Midianne.
Next up was the much anticipated battle between ‘The Latina Sensation’ Mercedes Martinez and ‘Frickin’ Awesome’ Portia Perez. This match was as hard-hitting and high-flying as you would expect from these two mat veterans. What Portia lacks in size she always makes up for in raw energy and grit, but it was still not enough to overcome Mercedes, who is at the top of her game these days. Easily main event material stuff, but the main event was yet to come …
Kalamity, who has time and again proven herself one of the most formidable wrestlers in Quebec got a shot at Cheerleader Melissa, one of the top women in wrestling anywhere. Kalamity’s usual aggressive style and rule-bending ways had Melissa on the ropes more than once, but eight minutes into the match, it appeared that Kalamity was finished as the Cheerleader set her up for her Air Raid Crash finisher. Suddenly, from out of nowhere Cat Power rushed into the ring and began brawling with Melissa. She had originally been promised this match against Melissa and she was not going to be denied. LuFisto also ran into the ring and it soon took the entire security team to keep the four women apart. Then, in an action guaranteed to meet with the fans’ approval, NCW Femmes Fatales staff ruled the match should continue as a tag match pitting Cat Power and Kalamity against Cheerleader Melissa and LuFisto. This match alone will be worth the price of the DVD as these four warriors pull out all the stops against each other. The end came suddenly as LuFisto DDT’ed Ms. Power into a table; this left Melissa free to finish what she had started earlier, Air Raid Crash-ing Kalamity into the canvas and getting the uncontested pin. Clearly a moment of great satisfaction for LuFisto as she ‘declawed’ the Cat and got her payback for her earlier loss.
All in all, a fantastic show. I have a temporary album up for now, but will upload all my pics over time. CLick the pic to go to the NCW Femmes Fatales website for info on the DVD and for their next show!
