Heather Owens New UWF Vixens’ Champion!

On Sunday, October 2nd in beautiful downtown Georgetown, Kentucky, the future of women’s wrestling in the Bluegrass State seemed to hang in the balance. The nefarious SXW hoped to take over the Georgetown territory, its promoter promising to shut down women’s wrestling for good and vowing to melt down the Vixens’ Title belt to make a new ring for himself. But in a best of 5 showdown between SXW and UWF, the good guys prevailed and a Royal Rumble for the Vixens’ title went on as planned.

And what a rumble it was! Mistress Burgandi entered the ring first, followed by Pippi, accompanied of course by Karmine, UWF newcomers Little Naughty and Cheyenne Sexton, ‘Hardcore’ Heather Owens, and Mary Elizabeth Monroe. Felony Foxx and ‘Gentleman’ Jim Chadwick were at ringside to keep things clean. Each woman battled all the others, alliances shifted, battles erupted and melees ensued. But one by one, the women got passed over the top rope. Pippi and Mistress Burgandi continued their battling even outside the ring. It was Mary Elizabeth Monroe who pushed tough Cheyenne Sexton out of the ring, leaving Mary and Heather to battle it out for the belt. It looked like Mary was on her way to victory as she climbed onto the top of the ringpost, prepraring to execute a DDT on a flagging Ms. Owens, but then Ms. Sexton reached up from outside the ring and toppled Ms. Monroe backward, causing her to tumble onto the arena floor. A surprised Heather had her arm raised in victory. An outraged Mary Elizabeth glared at Cheyenne. A delighted Ms. Sexton skipped out of the arena.

This Sunday, the women’s action continues. Mistress Burgandi and Pippi will continue their feud in a UWF match. And Mary Elizabeth Monroe will take on the woman who cost her the title, Cheyenne Sexton. The bad blood between these women promises to make this a real barn burner! Don’t miss UWF action this Sunday night in Georgetown, Kentucky. Click the pic of the victorious Ms. Owens to go to the UWF Facebook page for all the news. (Don’t forget to friend them too!)

Tracy Taylor NWA-PWF Southern Gold Champ!

NWA-PWF held its latest event at the NWA Arena in beautiful downtown Nashville, Tennessee. In the main event, the NWA-PWF Southern Title was on the line and the contenders were two well known and loved ring veterans, ‘The Island Girl’ Tracy Taylor and ‘The Mississippi Queen’ Christie Ricci. The battle was just as fierce and intense as you would expect from these women, but in the end only one could prevail. This time, it was Tracy Taylor. But there will surely be other wrestlers gunning for her belt very soon. Click the pic of the lovely Ms. Taylor celebrating after her victory to go to the NWA-PWF website, where you can download the PPV – just look for Apocalypse 2011.

Pictures coming soon!

Melanie Cruise New MLW Champion!

Management at Magnificent Ladies Wrestling breathed a sigh of relief on August 20 at the MLW Arena in beautiful downtown Memphis, Tennessee, when The Ninth Marvel of the World Melanie Cruise defeated Veronica Fairchild, taking the MLW title and preventing the belt from being ‘retired’ along with the retiring Ms. Fairchild. Veronica, after an unprecedented string of successful title defenses claimed that since no one could defeat her in a title match, she deserved to keep the belt. This last time, however, Ms. Fairchild’s luck gave out after Ms. Cruise (with, it is alleged, the help of a steel chain!) knocked her vivacious opponent out and secured the pin and the championship fopr herself. Still it was a bittersweet moment for all. In spite of all the trouble Ms. Fairchild made for MLW, she was a fighting champion and never one to turn away from a challenge. Her tenure as champion will be long remembered by wrestling fans. To the surprise of all, Veronica respectfully handed the belt over to Melanie with the admonition to ‘defend it!’ Congratulations to MLW’s new champion and kudos to the retiring Ms. Fairchild!

A Tribute to Cindy Rogers

Well, I guess it had to happen eventually. Cindy Rogers has retired from wrestling. There just aren’t enough good things to say about Cindy. An extraordinary wrester, who lived up to the title she borrowed from her wrestling idol, Bret Hart, the Definition of Technician. She has that energy and intensity that could get a crowd solidly behind her when she was a face, and when she was a heel, she has that arrogant swagger that could elicit boos in a split second. Before injuries caught up with her, she was booked constantly, two and three shows a weekend, since she was such a consistent and reliable worker, everybody wanted her to work for them. She was a mainstay of top promotions like WXW, SHIMMER, and WSU. She could wrestle rookies in their first match and veterans like Luna Vachon and have a great match every time. Her feud with Allison Danger at SHIMMER as well as her almost career-long battles with Alere Little Feather will be legendary. And her alliance with ‘Pryme Time’ Amy Lee and Missy Sampson, TCB, will be long remembered. Some of the best matches I have ever seen have been between Cindy and Mercedes Martinez. But on top of all that (and way more important at the end of the day) is the fact that Cindy is just a wonderful person, really one of the nicest and best people I know. I’m sad I didn’t get to see Cindy in her final matches over the last year, but for the scores of matches I have gotten to see and for all your work to keep us marks entertained, Cindy Rogers … THANK YOU! I hope this collection will bring back some great memories for you and for all your fans. Just click the pic of the amazing Cindy Rogers to see the whole album.
