Keepin’ It ‘Real’ at RCW

Last weekend, RCW (Real Championship Wrestling) sponsored yet another event in Charm City, a/k/a Baltimore, Maryland. But mat newcomer, Mia Yim, experienced little of that ‘charm’ as she faced off against two ring veterans at the top of their game, MsChif and Daizee Haze, in a 3-way dance. Instead, the two superstars decided it was time for Ms. Yim to get ‘real,’ as they double-teamed the young rookie, especially working over the athletic Asian’s endless and often lethal legs. But Mia showed her two tormentors that she has learned a few things in her brief but impressive career and managed to keep MsChif and Ms. Haze off balance for much of the match, especially with her powerful kicks. But in the end, it would be experience that would win out, and it was Daizee Haze who got the drop on Ms. Yim after hitting her devastating heart punch/ enzugir/snapmare/face bump combo. A big win for Ms. Haze and an impressive showing for Mia Yim in her RCW debut.

FURY-ous in Philly!

A couple weeks ago (that’s right, nothing but up to the minute news here at WWWWWW!), the City of Brotherly Love was host to the newest women’s wrestling promotion, FURY! In it’s debut show, the fans had the opportunity to see some of the best new talent in wrestling today.

The first match was a three-way, pitting ring veterans Angel Dust and Autumn Breeze against rookie Niya. Ms. Dust and Ms. Breeze immediately took the fight to the newcomer, using questionable tactics and frequent double-teaming to try to wear down the vivacious redhead, but their teamwork broke down whenever one of them came close to a pin. Eventually, Angel and Autumn’s bickering cost both of them the win, as Niya took advantage of their distraction to nail them both with a crossbody from the ropes, finally getting the pin and the win over Autumn Breeze.

In the second match, we got to see ‘Jumpin’ Jamilia Craft, a wrestling newcomer who has been taking the East Coast women’s wrestling scene by storm. Just coming off her very successful SHIMMER debut, Ms. Craft faced the mysterious Skilled Death Artist #3 (don’t ask what happened to the other two!). Jamilia had her hands full with this petite, but (as advertised) highly skilled opponent, but was able finally to eke out the win with a German supplex/pin combination that put SDA #3′s shoulders to the mat for the pin.

Finally, we had the main event, in which FURY Champion Jesse Belle defended her belt against one of the busiest women in wrestling today, Brittany Force. Ms. Force, who has been dominating women’s wrestling in western Pennsylvania for some time now, was eager to extend her reach, and the FURY title seemed to be just the ticket for that. But Ms. Belle, though still a relative newcomer, was determined to keep her belt at all costs. One of those ‘costs’ was apparently the rule book, which went right out the window as Jesse assaulted Ms. Force with chokes, stomps, hairpulls, eye rakes, and yes, even an iron chain. The iron chain, hidden from the ref’s eyes, turned out to be the clincher as Jesse Belle got the uncontested pin over a nearly out cold Brittany. But Jesse’s cheating ways did not go unnoticed by others, in particular by Discord, who while Jesse was parading with her belt, attacked her, vowing to end her malicious reign as FURY champ.

The card was filled out with men’s matches for FURY host promotion ACPW. Congrats to FURY for having some great wrestling, even as several of the advertised wrestlers were unable to make it. There is much to look forward to at the upcoming October show … new talent and new rivalries. Click the pic above to go to the FURY MySpace page and keep up to date on upcoming shows.

Brittany Force Takes PWE Gold

Brittany Force has said that her goal is to be none other than THE dominant force in women’s wrestling today. Ms. Force took another step in that direction this past weekend in beautiful downtown Chambersburg, Pennsylvania when she defeated long-time PWE Women’s Title holder Fate, thus adding the much coveted PWE belt to her collection. Her next destination – Philly! Where she will be in contention at America’s newest all-women’s federation, FURY! Stay tuned for details.

Also at PWE, long-time PWE superstar Jey Graham was bid a fond farewell as he had his last PWE match against his tag team partner Ian Jordan. Mr. Graham will be bringing his intense, ‘haterproof’ style of wrestling to new territories. This reporter, however, believes that PWE fans have not seen the last of Jey!

Also, the lovely Tiffani Monroe returned to the ring for the first time in several months, after a nasty spill. Welcome back, Tiff!

Wrestlicious Episode #6

Well, this seems to have been the culmination of the pilot episodes. New episodes are going to be made starting in a couple weeks, from what I understand.

Not much to speak of in this episode. First match was Kandi Kisses (Valentina) and her Gum Drops (a ‘pop tart’ character with very cool looking gear!) vs L’il Slamm, who is described as a rapper. Now I have not been able to find any information on L’il Slamm anywhere, and anyone who has anything to say about it says that she is a ‘model’ who received some training for the show. Well, having seen some of the other ‘models’ I can say that this girl is head and shoulders above them in the skills department and just in the way she comports herself in the ring. No, this girl is a wrestler with at least a little experience; I just don’t know who. Can anyone help me here? But she did not learn how to do a sunset flip or a bulldog as smoothly as she did them after a few afternoons with a trainer. Anyway, a fun match and nice to see Ms. Slamm toast the ‘pop tart’ in just about 4:00.

Then, finally, the 20 woman battle royal to determine the contenders for the title. Battle royals are more or less time fillers as far as I’m concerned, although a funny moment was when all the wrestlers ganged up on the Naughty Girls. In four minutes, we find out the contenders will be Glory (Christie Ricci) and Felony (Rain). I’m looking forward to that. Again, it’s worth my while to watch because the wrestlers are definitely the stars here.

Sara Del Rey on Philly TV News!

Sara looks pretty awesome on the TV screen! Let’s hope we see more of her there soon!

We Love You LuFisto! Stay Healthy!

As most all of you readers already know, but to the shock of all, the Super Hardcore Anime Princess LuFisto was, last Saturday, at a show, downed with a stroke at the age of 30 years! She is all right for the time being, awaiting test results, and staying away from the ring until she knows what’s what. You can read all the details as related by LuFisto herself by clicking the pic above.

All I can say is, LuFisto, I don’t think there is another wrestler who puts her heart and soul as much into wrestling as you do. And I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to face the prospect of a forced retirement from active wrestling. But you are a person with so many gifts, wrestling being only one of them. There is a lot more you have to give to the world, whether you wrestle again or not. So, please be careful. Be safe. Stay healthy. Make the tough choices if you have to. We want to see a lot more of you in the future!

Shocker At SHIMMER! Aussie Takes Title!

In a result that left the SHIMMER audience in stunned silence, Australian superstar Madison Eagles defeated MsChif, thus becoming the third SHIMMER Champion in that promotion’s history. Ms. Eagles, who had earned the respect and admiration of SHIMMER fans in her earlier appearance, won no love from them as she suddenly copped a smug and overconfident attitude, epitomized by her new gear, which read “I ‘heart’ ME” (as in Madison Eagles). Madison won the title shot after a very controversial win over Cheerleader Melissa, in which her feet were clearly in the ropes as she pinned the fan favorite. But in the title bout, she pinned MsChif cleanly after hitting her with her devastating Hellbound finisher. MsChif, having defended her title against the very best in women’s wrestling today for nearly two years, seemed as shocked by the result as everyone else. Only Madison Eagles herself showed no signs of surprise as she carried her dominance of women’s wrestling in the Antipodes all the way to the shores of Lake Michigan. An amazing climax to an amazing weekend of wrestling. As usual, I will soon have thousands of pictures up for your viewing pleasure, to relive the experience or to see it for the first time.

Cherry Bomb OWIE Female Wrestler of the Year!

Ontario Wrestlings Indy Elite just announced its first ever list of Ontario’s Top 30 Women Wrestlers of 2009, and Ontario’s own Cherry Bomb was at the top of the list! When I first saw Ms. Bomb in action at a PWA All-Women’s show in 2006, it was already clear she was bringing plenty of talent and a ton of charisma to the ring. 2009 was a great year for Cherry and I had the pleasure of seeing her at both SHIMMER and NCW-Femmes Fatales. This could be the break out year for this young star. OWIE’s ranking is well-deserved. Congratulations Cherry Bomb!

Long Live the Queen!

Misty James, the ‘Queen of Kingsport,’ that is! Might as well call her the ‘Queen of East Tennessee’ as the gorgeous grappler continues to burn through that territory, turning aside all challengers. Here we see Ms. James tying her opponent, Rebecca Lynn’s, legs into painful knots in recent EWP action. Misty went on to get the pin and chalk up another one in the win column. Expect to hear a lot more from this leggy beauty and click the pic to keep up to date on ‘Queen’ Misty’s upcoming matches!
