MLW Takes It to the Next Level!

This past weekend, MLW took a giant leap forward as it moved into permanent digs in beautiful downtown Memphis, Tennessee, one of the legendary sites for professional wrestling. The new location boasts a waiting room, dressing rooms, a media center, plus a two story wrestling arena. All in air conditioned comfort (OK, the 100 degree heat outside and constant activity in the arena made it pretty darn hot, but without the A/C it would have been hellish!) But of course the most important thing was the wrestlers themselves, newcomers and MLW veterans alike, whose wrestling skills are what MLW is all about. MLW has truly gone to the next level as the premiere location for custom women’s wrestling. Here’s to many years of success to MLW in its mission to bring us the best of women’s wrestling.

Heather Owens New UWA Vixens Champion!

There was no doubt that ‘Hardcore’ Heather Owens came to beautiful downtown Georgetown, Kentucky last Sunday to WIN! Ms. Owens began her assault on fan favorite Mary Elizabeth Monroe before the vivacious grappler could even make her trademark backflip-over-the-top-rope entrance. From then on it was a war, both wrestlers giving as good as they got. The UWA women’s title seems to be a magnet for controversy and that night would be no different, as Mary Elizabeth was pinned by Heather, whose legs were clearly in the ropes for leverage. Clear to all, that is, except for the distracted ref! An outraged Ms. Monroe vowed to get the title back, while a delighted Ms. Owens gloated in her win, apparently heedless of how it was obtained. Click the pic of a triumphant Heather Owens to get to the UWA FB page, where you can keep up to date on all the doings at one of the Mid-South’s hottest promotions!
Trina Thompson Returns to the Squared Circle!
Some of you diehard followers of women’s wrestling may remember Trina when she started in wrestling back in 2005 and 2006. She had some great matches with Serena Deeb in mid-Tennessee. But Trina stepped away from wrestling for a while to pursue another one of her passions – bodybuilding. And Trina excelled in that sport as well, placing highly in numerous competitions, most recently taking the fourth spot in the Class A Division at the 2011 NPC Junior National Championships. But now Trina Thompson has made her return to wrestling, debuting in OVW action against Lady Jo Jo, the current OVW women’s champion. In spite of being ambushed at the beginning of the match by Lady Jo Jo’s companion, Taryn Shay, Trina kept the pressure up on the champ. No doubt Lady Jo Jo thought Trina would be a pushover, but Trina showed her she has the strength and the agility to hold her own. After a couple of bodyslams, it looked as if Trina might be on her way to a win, but distracted by Taryn Shay, Trina fell prey to a submission hold clamped on her by Lady Jo Jo. A very impressive re-debut by Ms. Thompson, and here’s hoping she continues to make a big impression at OVW and elsewhere. Fairchild Puts Out a Fire; Retains MLW Gold!
MLW’s fighting champion, Veronica Fairchild, fended off yet another challenger last night at the Clay County Fairgrounds in beautiful downtown Celina, Tennessee. The lovely but vicious Crystal Fire had Ms. Fairchild on the defensive for much of the match, complaining along the way that the ref was not counting fast enough on the multiple occasions she had the champ’s shoulders to the mat. It was a failed attempt at a shoulder block to Veronica in the corner that gave Fairchild the chance for a quick roll up; the ref counted plenty fast that time and the champ eked out another successful title defense. Needless to say, Ms. Fire was not impressed with the ref’s speed this time around and vowed to wrest the title from Veronica soon. There definitely NEEDS to be a rematch here, folks, and fortunately, you can help make it happen. Simply click the pic to go to the Magnificent Ladies Wrestling website and see how you can book this match and many others for MLW’s next taping on June 25 and 26.
