Spotlight On PINK!

I recently had the opportunity to speak with the up and coming Texas luchadora, PINK, while she was making her 2nd appearance at Memphis Ladies Wrestling. The lovely but rugged grappler from the Lone Star State has been very busy of late, and I wanted to catch up with some of her doings, which she graciously agreed to do.

I was surprised to hear that you participated in UWF’s “Brawl for the Boobies” Breast Cancer Battle Royal in Fairless Hills, PA back in August. Seems like a long trip for a battle royal. Can you tell us about that?

Well, I heard about the benefit show from “Pryme Time” Amy Lee on a post at GloryWrestling.com. That weekend, I had shows in Houston and San Antonio, so I used some frequent flier miles to fly up there on Sunday, with barely enough time to spare to get ready and go out there for the Battle Royal. I met many girls from the northeast that I had heard or read about – Amy Lee, Missy Sampson, Jana, Cindy Rogers, Kylie Pierce – and they were all wonderful to me. I had a great time! And I discovered that Amy Lee and I have a kinship that we did not know before – both Amy Lee and my trainer, Manny Fernandez, were trained by the late Dick Murdoch! I met many great people that day.

I understand that your participation in the event had a very personal side to it. Your own mother is a breast cancer survivor!

That’s right. I was at the doctor with my mother 4 years ago when she was going for the results of her mammogram. My sister usually took her to her appointments, but for some reason this time it ended up being me. That was one of the hardest things in my life to see … my mother crying! And then her breakdown when she started losing her hair. I saw the radiation weaken one of the most strong-willed people I know.

That show was also your East Coast debut, was it not?

Yes, Wally, it was my first time on the East Coast. But it won’t be my last, I can assure you!

I see also that you’ve been tearing things up in your home state of Texas. What’s all this about your being a Queen of Wrestling?!

Yes, I am the Queen of River City Wrestling in San Antonio, TX. In August, I defeated Ann Dromeda – that gender confused goof! – for that title. The people hate it, but as you know Wally, I couldn’t care less, because there has not been a female in RCW that can even come close to beating me … or man for that matter!

Also, when I worked for BLEED Wrestling in Monterrey, Mexico, the workers dubbed me La Reina de Texas, which means the “Queen of Texas.” That title will always be near and dear to my heart because my family and best friends are from Monterrey. Their respect means the world to me. I have learned from the best, and train with the best, and continue to BE the best. I have yet to have anyone prove me wrong! I am also the current Women’s Champion of NWA-SW/WOW in Houston Texas, and undefeated in nearly all the promotions I have worked for in Texas. I’m undefeated in California as well!

I’ve been wrestling and training a lot with LLF in Monterrey, Mexico, and last month I made my debut at the Arena Coliseo in Monterrey, one of the biggest arenas in Mexico. That was an awesome experience and another big step in my Mexican journey!

So what does the future hold for La Reina PINK?

I have some things in the works overseas in England and Japan. In the meantime, I will be returning home to Monterrey, Mexico for the rest of the year, where I will be training and wrestling for LLF, LLU and BLEED – and maybe a surprise, too! I have been going to Mexico for the better part of a year and a half and I have grown as a performer from being around some of the toughest women in the world. I can’t wait for what is yet to come. There will be many surprises!

She’s Got a New Attitude …

… not to mention a new name! Say goodbye to Brooke Carter and hello to Brittney Savage. And how appropriate that name turned out to be October 3rd at the ACE Arena in beautiful downtown Union City, NJ, when the sultry Ms. Savage turned on her tag partner, Alicia, and made alliance with that gender-confused goof, Rick Cataldo! Little good it did her. In a match later that evening, she got herself pinned by the very Alicia she had earlier stabbed in the back. With this surprising change of name and ‘tude, Ms. Savage nee Carter went instantly from darling to dastard with the fans at WSU.

The October 3rd shows are now on DVD and on SALE! Click the pic to take advantage of this great deal!

How Jana Got Her Groove Back!

Jana made a dramatic break from her former tag partner at WSU, ‘Luscious’ Latasha, a few months back. Jana considered the diminutive Latasha to be a drag on her ability to move up in the organization. Problem was … now on her own, Jana seemed to be going nowhere fast, suffering embarrassing losses to both Latasha and Jennifer Cruz back in August, and being denied the new WSU Spirit Championship title. But October has been a different story as a newly energized Jana not only scored impressive victories over Ms. Cruz, Latasha, and Lea Morrison, but walked away with the Spirit belt she so coveted as well! Jana has got her groove back! And the rest of the roster at WSU had better watch out!

DISASTER in Tullahoma!

No, NOT the MLW tapings … they were awesome! Rather, I’m referring to the fact that my trusty Canon EOS 20D had a major systems failure during the very first match! Seems to me upon examination and study that it is suffering from a shutter release button contact problem and a failed shutter. I can’t complain. The camera has fired off more than 90,000 shots since I bought it without anything but minor, easily resolved problems. But repairing it may be expen$ive. I’m working against the clock here too … SHIMMER is in only 3 weeks. I will keep you up to date on the progress!

Note to self: Must buy backup camera, OR new camera and make this one the backup.

Kacee Carlisle Picks Up DCW Gold

The Dynamite Championship Wrestling show last Saturday may have been for charity, but there was no love between the two women contending for the DCW Women’s Championship. Title holder and local favorite Trixie Lynn defended against Kacee Carlisle, who has officially aligned herself with the American Male Regime faction. Kacee assumed she could just steamroll Trixie Lynn, but the fiery brunette’s speed and wits frequently put Ms. Carlisle on the defensive. Only after deviously braining Trixie Lynn with the heavy championship belt was Kacee able to get the uncontested pin. A lot of eyebrows were raised at this controversial win, so there is much excitement over who Kacee will face at the next DCW show on November 6, 2009. Check out their website for more information:
