Diva-Dirt has come out with its 2010 list of “Five to Watch,” highlighting five women in independent wrestling who seem poised to make a big impact in the wrestling scene. This year’s selectees are Leva Bates, Jamilia Craft, Athena, Britney Savage, and UK standout Brittani Knight (the only one of “The Five” Wrestlin Wally doesn’t have a picture of … alas!) You can click the pic to see Diva-Dirt’s analysis.
The geographic diversity of this year’s group is noteworthy. Leva wrestles mainly in Florida, Jamilia is based in Philadelphia, Athena in Texas, Ms. Savage wrestles mainly in New Jersey and New York, and Ms. Knight, as already noted, is from the UK.
Also noteworthy is that all five women have been active in leading all-women’s promotions. Brittney Savage has long been active in WSU, holding now that promotion’s Spirit Championship for up and coming talent. Athena made her SHIMMER debut just last month; Leva Bates and Jamilia Craft have been regular roster members for the last year or so. And Brittani Knight is a part of EVE Wrestling, a European-based promotion. This only goes to confirm the important role these promotions play in promoting and developing new talent. Congratulations to all five and here’s hoping that 2011 is a breakout year for all of them!
